Bermagui is a quaint seaside town renowned for its deep sea fishing, surfing, boating, lakes, beaches and hinterland forests. Zane Gray an American novelist, enjoyed his deep sea fishing adventures at Bermagui in the 1930's so much, he was inspired to include them in two of his novels. The movie "The Man who Sued God" which starred Billy Connolly and Judy Davis was filmed on location at Bermagui in 2001.

The Bermagui Country Club has a 9 hole golf course, bowling greens and tennis court and restaurant.
There is a coastal walk around the lake, with beautiful views. It joins a boardwalk that leads up to a headland and a long deserted white sandy beach.
